Goggio Lecture: Eloisa Morra “Building the Canon: The Italian Renaissance and the Creation of A Literary Tradition”

November 28 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Abstract: The literary canon in Renaissance Italy is exceptional in the European context in terms of breadth, relationships with classics, and cross-disciplinarity. This talk will present recent tendencies in the study of canon-making and consider different approaches in the analysis of inter-artistic relationships, namely how the visual canon contributed to the formation of a literary canon that included both vernacular and classical authors.
